Welcome late winter rains recharged drought-parched soils in 2015, allowing an excellent start to spring growth and a balanced fruit-to-canopy ratio. These healthy canopies protected the grapes from extreme heat in late summer, allowing them to stay on the vine until mature, with optimal ripeness. The varietals that comprise Field Blend are grown and harvested together, and as the first red wine of each vintage, Field Blend serves as a bellwether for the vintage.

A smaller crop and early harvest yielded deeply concentrated flavors and lush, mature tannins in the Field Blend grapes in 2015. Black-purple in color, the 2015 Field Blend displays perfumed aromas of rose and violet, leading to juicy black fruit with hints of cedar and chaparral. On the palate, the wine is rich and lush, showing Marionberry and dark chocolate, and the black pepper characteristic of Zinfandel. With concentrated fruit flavors leading to hints of black tea and chocolate in the finish, the 2015 Field Blend is a deeply satisfying wine.
