The grapes for the 2011 Robert’s Cabernet Franc were grown in the Summit 1 block, one of the highest of the red volcanic ridges at Oakville Ranch which yield the rich dark fruit coveted in this varietal. This wine shows well upon opening and improves with time in the glass, displaying aromas of exotic wood spice, nutmeg and roasted coffee. A heady toffee character leads to a sweet brambly fruit center, with bright red cherry and gentle tannins. It finishes with notes of dried fig and a pleasant acidity that leads to a lingering finish.
